The White Ribbon Lapel Pin has been used to promote public awareness for blindness in our communities. Blindness is a condition of lacking visual perception due to either physiological or neurological factors, there are various scales of vision loss and blindness including total blindness which is a complete lack of form and visual light perception. A variety of causes can lead to visual impairment most commonly Cataracts and Glaucoma along with others, vision impairment from these conditions is most common in people over 60 it does however also affect children. Blindness can also be caused by eye injuries that can occur in the work place or around the home. Of the reported 40 million people affected by blindness some of these can be treated to restore some or nearly all of their sight.
